Plans & support

You can expand Catalyst in two ways. Both are self-serve: buy them from the Catalyst console at any time, with no need to contact sales.

  • A plan for the Catalyst Cloud region. Every organization starts on the free Catalyst Cloud plan. Subscribe to Catalyst Cloud Plus to raise your limits in the Catalyst Cloud region, the multi-tenant region that Diagrid runs.
  • Dedicated and BYOC regions. A Dedicated Cloud or managed BYOC region is single-tenant and runs only your workloads. It isn't bound by the Catalyst Cloud plan limits: each region is sized by the tier you choose, and paying for one also raises your organization-wide limits.

The console charges your card or your AWS or Azure account for both.

☁️Catalyst Cloud

Free plan in the Catalyst Cloud region, sized for evaluation and development.

🚀Catalyst Cloud Plus

Monthly subscription with higher limits in the Catalyst Cloud region.

🏢Dedicated and BYOC regions

Single-tenant regions, hosted by Diagrid or in your own cloud account, sized to your workload with much higher limits.

Plans

PlanWhat it's forHow you get it
Catalyst Cloud (free)Trying out Catalyst and building in the Catalyst Cloud region.Every new organization starts here.
Catalyst Cloud PlusProduction and team workloads in the Catalyst Cloud region, with higher limits.Subscribe in the console under Billing.

These plans apply to the Catalyst Cloud region. For production workloads that need a single-tenant region, private networking, or your own cloud account, add a dedicated or BYOC region. It's billed on its own, and it doesn't need Cloud Plus.

When you start paying for your first dedicated or BYOC region, after any free trial ends, your organization gets the higher organization-wide limits below. You keep them while you pay for at least one region.

Plan limits

Most limits apply to each region separately, so what you run in one region never counts against another. The exceptions are the organization-wide limits below.

The monthly request limit is an allowance, not a hard cap. You can see your usage in the console, and your organization's admins get an email when you reach 80%.

On the free plan, a project that has had no activity for 7 days is deleted. You get a warning email the day before. Projects aren't deleted for inactivity on Cloud Plus, or when placed on a dedicated or BYOC region.

Per dedicated or BYOC region

Dedicated, BYOC, and self-managed regions run only your organization's workloads, so their limits are higher. These limits apply to each region:

Dedicated and BYOC regions have no plan limits on request rate, state storage size, or concurrent workflows. What the region can handle depends on its sizing tier.

Billing

Cloud Plus, Dedicated Cloud regions, and managed BYOC regions are self-service: you subscribe and pay for them directly, with no sales contract required. Pricing is flat rather than usage-based, you can pay by card or through AWS or Azure Marketplace (see Payment methods). Invoices are available in the console under Billing.

Cloud Plus plan

Cloud Plus costs a flat monthly fee, and an organization has one subscription. Diagrid charges your default payment method when you subscribe, and again on the same date each month. Cloud Plus has no free trial.

  • Cancel: you keep Cloud Plus until the end of the month you've paid for, then move back to the free plan. The unused part of the month isn't refunded. You can undo the cancellation before the month ends at no extra charge.
  • Failed renewal: you keep Cloud Plus while the payment is retried. If every retry fails, the subscription ends and your organization returns to the free plan.

Cloud Plus is billed separately from any regions you pay for.

Dedicated and BYOC regions

Each dedicated or BYOC region has a flat monthly price, set by two choices you make when you create it:

  • Sizing tier: small, medium, large, or xlarge.
  • Support plan: Dedicated Cloud regions offer standard, select, or premium. BYOC regions start at select.

The price stays the same however much you use the region, and it includes support. A BYOC region costs less than a Dedicated Cloud region of the same size, because it runs in your own cloud account and you pay for that infrastructure yourself.

Free trial. Your first paid region comes with a 14-day free trial, and you don't need a payment method to start it. Add a payment method before the trial ends to keep the region running; billing starts when the trial ends.

Monthly or annual. A region is billed monthly by default. You can instead pay for 12 months up front, which costs 20% less than 12 monthly payments. An annual commitment renews automatically, and you get a reminder 60, 30, and 7 days before it does. It can't be refunded, and you can't downgrade a region while it's covered by one. You can have monthly and annual regions in the same organization.

Changes. When you add a region, resize one, or change its support plan, you pay the prorated difference on your next invoice, not straight away. A downgrade gives you a credit on future invoices, not a refund. You can't downgrade to a tier with less storage than the region already uses. Deleting your last paid region ends the subscription.

Missed payments. If a card payment fails, your regions keep running while the payment is retried. If every retry fails, your regions are suspended. A suspended region is deleted after 7 more days unless the invoice is paid.

Self-managed regions run on a Kubernetes cluster you operate (self-managed BYOC). You can create them during a free trial. After the trial they need an agreement with Diagrid sales, and Diagrid quotes and invoices them directly.

Payment methods

Manage payment methods in the console: select Organization in the sidebar, then Plan and billing › Billing, and scroll to the Payment methods section. You can pay in three ways:

Payment methodHow you're chargedTax
Credit or debit cardDiagrid charges the card monthly and sends invoices.Calculated by Diagrid
AWS MarketplaceThe charges appear on your AWS bill.Handled by AWS
Azure MarketplaceThe charges appear on your Azure bill.Handled by Azure

You can pay for Cloud Plus and for dedicated and BYOC regions by card or through a marketplace. With a marketplace, Diagrid reports your charges to AWS or Azure, and they add them to your cloud bill. Region trials are never billed.

Link a marketplace subscription in one of two ways:

  • From the console: in the Payment methods section of the Billing page, choose Add AWS Marketplace or Add Azure Marketplace. Subscribe on the listing that opens. When you're sent back to Catalyst, the subscription is linked to your organization.
  • From the marketplace: subscribe to Diagrid Catalyst on AWS Marketplace or Azure Marketplace. You're sent to Catalyst to sign up or sign in, and the subscription is linked to your organization. If you belong to more than one organization, link it from the console of the organization you want to bill instead.

Linking a marketplace subscription doesn't change your plan. You can't move an organization that already pays by card onto a marketplace subscription. If you cancel the marketplace subscription, billing through it stops straight away.

Dedicated and BYOC regions SLA

When you run dedicated or BYOC regions, the control plane and each region have separate SLAs. The control plane is the Catalyst console, API, and CLI endpoints that you use to manage your organization. Each region is the data plane where your App IDs run. If the control plane is unavailable, your App IDs keep running in their region, but you can't change them.

Diagrid operates both Dedicated Cloud and managed BYOC regions, so it is responsible for their availability. A managed BYOC region runs in your cloud account, so outages caused by changes to that account are excluded (see below). A self-managed region runs on a Kubernetes cluster you operate, so its availability is yours to set. Your support plan still applies to it, and the control plane SLA covers it like any other region.

Availability is measured in minutes over each calendar month, by Diagrid's own monitoring. These don't count as downtime:

  • Scheduled maintenance, announced in advance.
  • Outages of the underlying cloud provider.
  • Problems caused by your applications, your components, or services you connect to Catalyst.
  • For managed BYOC regions, problems caused by your cloud account: removing or narrowing the access you granted Diagrid, reaching service quotas or spending limits, organization policies or network changes that block the region, changing or deleting resources Diagrid created, or the account being suspended.

Need a higher SLA, such as 99.99%? Contact sales to discuss a custom agreement. Contact sales too for the response times and coverage of each support plan.
